THREE KEY POINTS
- What is happening: Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is seeking views on proposals for tourism facilities at Kilbroney Park and two other forest and country parks.
- Where and when: Kilbroney Park in Rostrevor, Slieve Gullion Forest Park and Delamont Country Park are included. The consultation closes at 11.59pm on Friday 6 November 2026.
- Who it affects: Residents, local businesses, community groups and visitors who want to comment on the proposals before the deadline.
At Kilbroney Park, the proposals include a visitor hub, Narnia-inspired visitor experiences, outdoor attractions, trails and possible accommodation. Separate plans under consideration include an all-weather amphitheatre at Slieve Gullion and nature and heritage attractions at Delamont.
The proposals are part of the Belfast Region City Deal tourism project. The council says up to £29.2 million could support delivery, subject to approvals. These are emerging ideas being assessed, not confirmed or approved construction projects.
Public feedback will be considered alongside technical work as the council prepares an outline business case. People who wish to take part can follow the official council project information and consultation links before the deadline.
